Is There A Cure for Tics in Children
Just as everyone knows that tics are something that involuntarily
happens to any person, curing the same is also a major issue. Tics
generally don’t stay for a longer period and goes off easily. However if
it’s a chronic one then it might even go in for years. Simple Tics are
commonly found among children and mostly Chronic Tics are found among
elders. The best part of the tic is that it is less when you are asleep
but sometimes it can also get worst if proper treatment is not given.

Causes of Tics
There can be several biological, physical and environmental factors
that can result in tics. Mostly if any parent is suffering from that
disorder there are bright chances that the kid might also suffer from
the same. Mostly it’s the brain’s functional disorder. Sometimes a child
develops tic because of intake of some wrong medicines. It can also
happen when you do the act of mimicking of a person coughing say for
instance. Thus there are several factors because of which your child may
be suffering from a tic.
Curing Tics in children by parents
A parent should learn the art of curing tics among children. They
should try to explain them that it is common in their age and rather
than focusing too much on it should concentrate on the task they are
doing. Thus their work would also be completed on time and the tics
among children get cured faster. Just advice them not to suppress it
otherwise it would simply increase. If you cannot deal with it alone
then better consult a good doctor for the same.
Types of Tics
There are three types of tics which are classified as follows:
1. Transient Tic disorder
Transient tic involves either motor tic or vocal tic and sometimes
even both together. It basically stays only for four to five weeks and
not more than that. It occurs almost every day. They are the most
commonly found among children under ten years of age and they involve
actions like lip biting, blinking of eyes etc. They are the simplest
tics to deal with and mostly go away when your child grows older.
2. Chronic Tic disorder
When a person is suffering from either a motor tic or a vocal tic for
more than a year then it is defined as chronic tic. It can happen
regularly .or occasionally depending on the situation. Even that can be
treated with care but it may affect your child’s concentration if not
treated on time.
3. Tourette’s Syndrome
Tourette syndrome is nothing but it includes changes in behavior
commonly known as attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and
obsessive compulsive disorder (OCD). They usually involve the above two
disorders mainly one chronic disorder and several transient disorders.
They stay in for a longer period of time. Further it also includes one
vocal tic and several motor tics.
These types of tics are more seen in males then females. Thus they
are more common when children are young and in school.

Diagnosis for a child suffering from tics
There are no specific tests through which a parent can know that his
or her child is suffering from a specific tic. All the doctor does is
that he goes through the child’s complete history as in when he was
born, any medicines that he has taken before, parent’s history, any
injury affecting his brain etc.
The best way to cure a child from tic is through psychotherapy that’s
because tics tend to increase when the person is angry, excited or
fatigued. If proper cleanliness is maintained then tics like coughing
can also be avoided.
Thus, with the help of above information they can be easily cured. |
