Cure for Tics in Children-find the Easy Way Out

A Tic is a sudden and repetitive movement or sound that a person is
used to do or does without his having control over it. A tic is
something that happens unconsciously most of the times but in many cases
it is also a function of someone having a chronic problem as a result of
which is goes beyond their control. A tic can be something which is
visual or it could be a sound. Tics in the nature of shrugging of
shoulders or nail biting or nose wrinkling or making facial expressions
at someone are in the nature of visual tics. Sound tics are more like
coughing, clearing throat, etc.
Most of the times a tic is temporary in nature and does not last
long. It happens to a person more because of an interim problem that a
person might be facing and tends to fade away with time. In rare cases
tics do become chronic in nature. Chronic tics are a serious problem and
need medical attention.
Figuring out that a person has a problem of tics is not so easy and
is an art which is mastered by doctors. Most of the times doctors
identify this problem by speaking to the patient’s and observe them
keenly. It is easy to cure once diagnosed. However, people are not so
willing to accept the fact that they a problem of tics. It is mostly
seen as a habit which would pass off over time. However, if not tackled
at initial stage, it can become chronic and a patient might have to
undergo painful treatment to come out of it. There is also an
embarrassment angle which people might go through if they are not able
to come of their tics.
There are easy ways which a person can take without any medical
intervention to come out of tics. One way of getting rid of it is to
forget about it. If someone constantly keeps thinking of it, it is
possible that he would never come out of it. Another way of getting rid
of tics is to tell a close friend to observe you and point it out to you
every time you do the tic. That way it will help you to avoid doing it.
Avoiding tension situations is another way to come out of tics. Last but
not the least way is to just chill. A tic is finally a tic and a person
will not die because of that. So sit back and relax and don’t worry too
much about it.
Sometimes a tic can also become a social problem wherein it irritates
near and dear ones of the person suffering from this problem. It can
make others stay away from you without you figuring out reasons for the
same! In such cases, it is more the will power of the person who suffers
from it that can let him come out of it than any kind of medication.

There are quite a few medicines available in the market which can
help control tics but they are quite generic in nature and to be used
only based on prescription from doctors. However, a person can avoid the
misery of going through the painful medication by some self control and
more importantly not worrying too much about it.
Tics is as such not a very big problem that a person should lose
sleep over. The more a person consciously attempts to come out of this,
the more it haunts him. Hence, forgetting about tics and living life the
normal way is the best cure to this problem. |
